It’s April 20, 2018, a day when all college fans rejoice as the best high school basketball players announce where they will attend college. Many stars announce by Instagram or by tweet what school they will pick, but very few NBA level prospects will get the very popular ESPN prime-time slot.

Zion Williamson, the high school phenom, is one of those rare players. Everyone is waiting on the number two player in the class of 2018 to make his move. His family, as well as the critics, are pushing him to choose the well known college, UNC. The main reason for these encouragements is the great, Michael Jordan. Jordan attended UNC, and many people expect Zion to rise to that level, so they are hoping he will follow in Jordan’s footsteps. Shocking everyone, Williamson decided that UNC was not a great fit for him, and decided on the rival college, Duke.
Previous to Zion’s signing, Duke had signed the two other top three recruits, RJ Barrett and Cam Reddish. Reporters are saying that those two kids might have influenced Zion’s decision.
Williamson is a freak of nature; e is 6’7, and a 272-pound tank with a 40-yard dash of 4.72 seconds. Putting in countless hours of practice paid off, as Williamson is now apart of the best NCAA basketball team.
As March Madness approaches, Duke went from the fourth favored team to the number seed in the tournament. Williamson is averaging historic numbers which are:
22 points per game
9.2 rebounds
4 assists
On 68.1% shooting.
His stats are not the full story though, because his efficient scoring and amazing defense are the real reason why Duke is running away with the first pick. Not many NBA players have his skill set on both ends of the court. Heis a threat at any spot on the court. NBA superstar, Anthony Davis, requested a trade from his team, New Orleans Pelicans because he wants to go to a team that is contending. Rather than trading him now, the Pelicans are willing to wait until April when the NBA draft occurs. At those times, they will trade their legendary star to whoever has the first overall pick in order to draft Zion Williamson.
Williamson has already signed a deal with Nike, a company that has endorsed LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving. Williamson is the most dominant athlete in college sports, and has the potential to be the greatest star in the NBA.
